ABS Q&A

We have summarized the frequently asked questions from our customers.

This is limited to general information.
For individual grades, please contact us directly by e-mail or phone.

Q

What is the coefficient of linear thermal expansion of ABS resin ?

A

In the case of KRALASTIC™ non-reinforced ABS resin, it is about 7-9 x 10-5 1 / ℃.
In the case of glass reinforced, it will be smaller than the value of non-reinforced ABS resin, although it depends on the content.

Q

What is the water absorption of ABS resin ?

A

ABS resin is water absorbent and requires pre-drying before molding. For the drying conditions, see the basic physical properties table of the varieties used on this website, and refer to the pre-drying conditions listed in the "Typical molding conditions" section of each grade.
The water absorption of ABS resin leads to defects in molded products (silver streaks, voids,etc.).
Pre-dry so that the water absorption rate is at least 0.1% or less. It is preferable to manage it at 0.05% or less.

Q

What is the oxygen index of ABS resin?

A

For KRALASTIC™ standard ABS resin, the oxygen index is 19%.

Q

What are the electrical resistivity and the dielectric breakdown of ABS resin?

A

In the case of KRALASTIC™ standard ABS resin, the volume resistivity is about 1015Ω・cm and the dielectric breakdown is 18-20kV/mm.

Q

What are the relative permittivity and the dissipation factor(loss tangent) of ABS resin?

A

In the case of KRALASTIC™ standard ABS resin, the relative permittivity is 2.8-3.0 (at 1MHz),and the dissipation factor is smaller than 1× 10-4 (at 1MHz).

Q

What is the UL file number?

A

The UL file number of our resin products is "E54706".

Q
